The feared pirate of the Salish Seas captain Barnacle Baloo has struck again. She and her motley crew of the Pink Pearl have raided the peace-loving city of South Surrey stealing a treasure chest load of toys. The Canadian Coast Guard have located her ship hidden away in the Smuggler's Cove marine park but there is no sign of the infamous captain or her crew or the treasure. However, they did find the captain's log on her ship. Your mission is to use the information in the log to recover the treasure.

Captain's Log

00 – Wake up. Peaceful night sleep for a change after breaking into the Old Stewart farm last night. Time to go before people arrive. Supplies low. Need to get raiding again. Break into Semiahmoo Sea Scouts boathouse. Found large chest full of tarps perfect for treasure. Dumped tarps out. Steal nice kayak and paddle swiftly along Nicomekl river 2 nm West and 1 nm South to join crew aboard the Pink Pearl anchored near Crescent Beach.

30 - Set sail. Travelling South 2 nm.

00 - Time for a raid. Spot township and pier to the East. Heading East 4 nm to pier.

00 - Successful toy raid (and picked up some ice-cream) head back out to the Pink Pearl moored at the end of the pier. Long walk to ship - must the longest pier in Canada! Set sail, Heading SW until the East edge of Point Roberts is directly North.

30 – Wind starting to pick up. Sailing West 7 knots for 1 hour.

30 – Experiencing strong Southerly winds. Changing course. Heading North at 11 knots for 1 hour.

30 – Sighted Canadian Coast Guard to the North of Delta Port, instructing helm to quickly turn 90 degrees to Port and continue for 5 nm. Doesn’t look like Coast Guard sighted us. That was close!

00 – Crew getting hungry. Turn 90 degrees to Starboard and continue at 10 knots for two hours. Found a small island cove nice and snug to anchor in with a good restaurant. Very good fish and chips.

00 – Spot a small BC ferry heading our way. Time to get going before those pesky tourists arrive. Heading out East 1 nm.

15 – Wind direction has changed. Strong northerly outflow winds in sound. Turning to head South. Sight BC ferry to the south that is heading West. Maintaining South course for direct intercept of ferry.

00 – Raided BC ferry gift shop for more toys. Forced ferry captain to tow the Pink Pearl on the ferry course West for about 7 nm while the crew and I eat an early dinner. Ate White Spot burger with clam chowder. Sight passage between two islands directly to the SW.

00 – Returned to Pink Pearl and sailed SW through the pass between the islands into the channel. We are in the middle of four islands. Two large islands to the North and East with two small islands to West and South. Turned and headed 7 nm South.

00 – Changed course to NW.

30 - Sighted city directly to the West along East coast of very large island. Many of the buildings have large murals on them? Turned to head North for 1 nm.

45 – Port tack West for 2 nm

00 – Starboard tack to North for 8 nm

45 – Turned to NE to pass between two islands to the center of the channel.

00 – Starting to get dark now. Spot island cove 1 nm directly to the West. Perfect cove to hide treasure! Unfortunately, too rocky to dig hole to bury treasure chest. Leaving chest on rocky outcrop. No-one will find it there. Time to rest. Tomorrow we set sail for Smuggler’s Cove.
